I've been making a living around car parts for eight years, and I'm going to say something that sounds a little too confident: most “bad alternator” diagnoses are wrong. Not every time. The alternator had a wire that monitors voltage at the battery. That wire passed through a connector under the fuse box. Small jobs are not practice jobs. A $250 diagnostic check that prevents a $700 comeback is not a waste; it's an investment. If you're gonna sell an alternator job, you've gotta earn it with a diagram.
So here's my final advice: if you're about to change an alternator, look at the Mando alternator wiring diagram first. Check the sense wire. Check the ground. Check for a misfire. Use the CV joint tool when there's a CV joint to fix. And if the car is a beat-up daily driver from a customer who can't afford to lose it, give it the same care you'd give a seven-figure machine.
